Level 39 Robyn Miller (Obduction, Myst, Riven) POTW Benji Inniger

It’s been more than 20 years since Robyn Miller and his brother, Rand, created Myst. Now, they’re back with Obduction, an adventure game full of puzzles and exploration. Robyn didn’t do any coding or design this time around, but he did write the music.

Obduction is a spiritual successor to that Myst universe, meaning it’s similar, but there’s no continuity with lore or characters. Robyn reflected that in his music well. Hope you enjoy our chat! And be sure to check out his art.

Our Patron of the Week is Benji Inniger, a game composer who teaches at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, MN. We talked about the first two on his list of favorite video game music:

  1. Main Theme from Shadowgate by Hiroyuki Masuno
  2. Dreams of Venice” from Assassin’s Creed II by Jesper Kyd
  3. Main Theme from Silent Hill by Akira Yamaoka
  4. Granas Sanctuary” from Grandia II by Noriyuki Iwadare
  5. Those Who Fight Further” (Black Mages version) from Final Fantasy VII by Nobuo Uematsu
